Latosinsky, Necajevs Take Out MSU’s No. 1 Doubles Team On Saturday

Box Score

The Titans No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Pjotrs Necajevs (Riga, Latvia/Herdera Vidusskola) and freshman Alex Latosinsky (Sarnia, ON/St. Christopher's) got Detroit off to a quick start with a victory, but UDM would eventually suffer a 6-1 loss at Michigan State on Saturday evening.

The Titan (1-4) duo started doubles with an 8-6 triumph over Austin Brooks and John Stratton, the Spartans (5-2) top doubles team this season.

Necajevs would tally the only point on the night for the red, white and blue with a 6-1, 6-1 drubbing of Brooks at No. 1, his third win on the season against a MSU netter. His record now stands at 17-2 on the year and 5-0 in the top position.

Detroit saw two other matches go the distance in the first set as sophomore Nick Tolomei (Rochester, MI/Adams) fell 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5 and Cesar Escobar Serrano (Merliot, El Salvador/Educame), making his Titan debut, dropped a 7-6 (6), 6-2 decision at No. 4.

UDM will now gear up for a doubleheader next Saturday as the Titans visit Toledo for matches against the host Rockets and Case Western Reserve.
