Melanie Capuano picking up her first collegiate win, Detroit fell on the road, 5-2, to the Falcons.
Capuano (Grosse Pointe Farms, MI/Grosse Pointe South) garnered her first win in singles at No. 6, taking out BGSU's Katelyn Grubb, 6-4, 7-6 (4), 10-6.
The other Titan win on the day came from sophomore
Amanda Cornwell (Waterford, MI / Kettering) at No. 3 as she won both her sets, 7-5.
UDM started the night by dropping three tough doubles matches as sophomore
Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelunds Gymnasiet) and Cornwell fell at the top spot, 8-6, while freshman
Carolina Salas Espinosa (Monterrey, Mexico) and senior
Svetlana Flankova (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary 21) also dropped their match at No. 2 by the same score. Capuano and junior
Erin Weldon (Kalamazoo, MI/Mattawan) also battled the Falcons tough in an 8-5 setback.
Detroit (0-5) returns home on Sunday when the Titans host Cincinnati at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield. The match will begin at 4:00 p.m.
