The Detroit Titans women's tennis team won its third consecutive Horizon League match Friday afternoon as UDM shut out Valparaiso, 7-0, at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield.

Carolina Salas Espinosa (Monterrey, Mexico/Preparatoria No. 7) were paired up at the No. 1 doubles slot and won by a score of 8-1, while senior
Svetlana Flankova (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary 21) and sophomore
Sophie Sjoberg-Sundstrom (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelunds Gymnasiet) captured an 8-2 victory at No. 2.
The duo of freshman
Melanie Capuano (Grosse Pointe Farms, MI/Grosse Pointe South) and junior
Erin Weldon (Kalamazoo, MI/Mattawan) represented Detroit at No. 3 and won 8-0 to improve their record in dual competition together to 3-4.
Freshman
Victoria Baca (Quito, Ecuador/El Sauce) was the first Titan to finish singles play and she defeated Christine Antrobus (6-0, 6-0) at No. 6, while Flankova was next to wrap up competition and shut out Stephanie York in both sets at the No. 4 slot. Detroit clinched the match when Weldon captured a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 against Jackie O'Reilly.
The Titans (4-9, 3-0 HL) will return to action on Sunday when they host UIC at the Franklin Athletic Club at 1 p.m.
