MUNCIE, Ind. (1/18/2014) --
A Saturday trip to Indiana was on the agenda, but the Titans could not pull out a win as the University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team fell to a tough Ball State squad, 7-0, at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.

Detroit (0-3) played hard, but could not get the opening doubles point as the Cardinals (1-0) took two of three for the early lead. UDM did record its first win of the season as the duo of senior Bobby Cawood and freshman Patryk Koscielski was victorious at No. 3 defeating BSU's Andrew Stutz and Patrick Downs, 6-2.

In singles, two Titans were able to force a decisive third set, but just came up on the wrong side of the score. At No. 2, junior Jay Joshi won the first set, 6-2, but then fell 6-1 in the second and lost a hard fought 6-4 in the third.

At No. 5, freshman Chance Conley started his match with a 6-4 win, but then dropped the next two 6-2 and 6-0.

Cawood put in a good effort in his 6-1, 6-4 setback at the top spot, while freshman Ismail Kadyrov was downed, 6-4, 6-4, at the sixth position.

UDM will be back in action next Friday, Jan. 24, as the men and women will host a doubleheader at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield. The men will start things off with Duquesne at 8:00 p.m., and the women will battle Chicago State at 9:00 p.m.
