DETROIT (1/31/2014) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team will head to Indianapolis for a weekend match-up with the Butler Bulldogs on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. ET.
The Titans are 2-2 overall and are riding a two-match win streak. UDM played at Dayton on Sunday (1/26) and captured a 7-0 win and before that hosted Chicago State in Southfield on Jan. 24 winning by a 6-1 score.
Sophomore
Nino Sujashvili was named the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday for her efforts in helping the Titans to the two victories.
Sujashvili went 4-0 in the two matches. She played at No. 1 doubles with senior
Julia Fernandes against Chicago State on Friday and the two won 7-6 (7-3). On Sunday, Sujashvili played with freshman
Viktoria Laskutova and the duo posted a 6-0 victory.
Butler is 1-2 in the dual-match season and have fallen 7-0 in each of its last two matches. The last came on Jan. 25 at Western Michigan and before that on Jan. 24 at Eastern Michigan. The lone win for the Bulldogs this season came on Jan. 18 with a 7-0 sweep over Robert Morris (Chicago).
The next match for the women will be on Sun. Feb.9 at Toledo at 1:00 p.m. ET.
