SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (2/7/2014) --
Another match came down to the wire for the Titan men's tennis team, but Detroit just could not pull this one out as the University of Detroit Mercy fell to IPFW, 4-3, on Friday night at the Franklin Athletic Club.

It was the second-straight affair that ended in a 4-3 outcome as well as the fourth time in the last six matches.

Detroit (2-6) started behind by dropping the doubles point once again, but the Titans did get a win at No. 3 as junior Jay Joshi and freshman Ismail Kadyrov were able to notch a 6-5 (4) victory over the IPFW (4-2) duo of Jonathan Raa and Karl Wangensten-Oye.

Joshi continued his winning ways on the night as he tallied a 6-1, 6-5 (4) triumph at No. 2 singles over Raa for one of the three Titan victories.

Freshman Patryk Koscielski had a great comeback in defeating Andres Cobos at No. 3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, while sophomore Rafael Orantes raced past Gerard Guell, 6-2, 6-2, in the fourth spot.

The Titans nearly came away with a team win, but senior Bobby Cawood lost a tough 6-4, 5-6 (6), 6-3, affair at No. 1, and Kadyrov was upended 5-6 (7), 6-3, 6-5 (5), at No. 5.

The red, white and blue will continue its weekend homestand on Sunday as the Titans host city-rival Wayne State at 7:30 p.m., at the Franklin Athletic Club.
