Detroit Visits No. 36 Notre Dame On Sunday

Live Stats

DETROIT (3/13/2015) --
The second ranked opponent of the season is up next for the University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team as the Titans will match up with No. 36 Notre Dame on Sunday. The match is slated for 5:00 p.m., at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.

The Titans went 3-2 on their spring break trip and head into the weekend at 4-7. This is the second ranked opponent on the docket for the red, white and blue as they played No. 59 Michigan State earlier in the year and will host the Spartans on March 22.

Sophomore Patryk Koscielski continues to lead the team with nine singles wins, while sophomore Kacper Stelmaszak is tied for second with seven. Koscielski also has seven doubles victories.

Detroit will also be looking for its first-ever win over Notre Dame as the religious institution has won all 21 previous matches.

Notre Dame is 6-5 on the season and 0-2 in the ACC, but still has itself in the top 40. The Fighting Irish have dropped four in a row coming into the match, which will be a doubleheader for them as they host Boston College in the morning.

Quentin Monaghan is the top singles player ranked No. 22 in the nation with a 17-5 record. Billy Pecor is 12-11 in singles and is part of the eighth-ranked doubles tandem as he and Alex Lawson are 17-6 on the year, while Eddy Covalschi and Josh Hagar are ranked No. 14 with a 14-5 mark.
