ORLANDO, Fla. (3/6/2015) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team was behind early, but thanks to some great singles play, the Titans were able to post a 4-3 comeback victory on Friday afternoon against Mount St. Mary's.
The win was the final spring break match of the week for the Titans as they went 2-2 in Florida and improved to 4-7 on the season, while The Mount fell to 5-3.
The Titans trailed after dropping all three doubles matches and then saw one of its singles matches fall due to a retiring.
UDM regrouped and won four of the other five matches starting at the top spot as sophomore
Patryk Koscielski held off Austin Blake, 7-6 (3), 6-2. Sophomore
Kacper Stelmaszak handled Darren Mast, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 and sophomore
Ismail Kadyrov surged by Louis Tonon, 6-2, 7-6 (5), at No. 5.
With junior
Tanguy Crosnier upended in a tough, 6-2, 7-6 (5), bout at the sixth position, that left sophomore
Chance Conley needing to win the final showdown to clinch it for the red, white and blue.
Conley did just that taking the first set, 7-5, before losing 7-5 in the second. In the third, it was another 7-5 affair as the second-year Titan downed Adam Salam at No. 3.
The Titans will be back in action next weekend, March 15, as Detroit travels to South Bend, Indiana, to face No. 14 Notre Dame.
