VALPARAISO, Ind. (4/11/2015) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team won seven of the eight completed matches on the day as the Titans charged past Valparaiso, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Valparaiso Tennis Complex.
The win moved Detroit to 13-8 on the year, the second most wins in school history and just two away from matching Detroit's 15-8 mark in 2008-09. The victory also kept them on pace for a first-round bye in the Horizon League Championship as well as a regular season title.

Sasha Nionova had no trouble defeating Megan Barthels and Michele Fredlake, 6-0, at No. 3. At No. 2, junior
Nino Sujashvili and sophomore
Viktoria Laskutova upended Cary Milanes and Paige Heuer, 6-4.
The Titans then put the match away with five singles wins, all by straight set.
Nionova was perfect in a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Kaitlyn Hamel at the top of the line-up. Junior
Irina Slizovskaya was also unblemished in a 6-0, 6-0 win against Heuer at No. 4.
Sophomore
Anna Davydova kept up her winnings ways as she upended Cary Milanes, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 3 for her 10th-straight victory. She also moved a step closer to the school record as her 23 wins on the year are tied for third in school history, three away from matching the mark.
Sophomore
Nynke Van Der Goot cruised past Megan Barthels at the fifth spot, 6-2, 6-0, and Laskutova dominated Michele Fredlake at six, 6-0, 6-1.
The Titans will remain on the road for a key match against UIC (9-7, 5-0 HL) tomorrow, April 12, as they meet the Flames in the Windy City. The winner will have an important tiebreaker that might mean the difference between a first round bye and playing a quarterfinals match in the HL Championship.
