DETROIT (2/11/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team returns to action this weekend with a pair of road matches at Toledo and Western Michigan.
The Titans square off first with Toledo on Friday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. from the Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee, Ohio. Detroit then returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 14 against the Broncos at 12 p.m. from the West Hills Athletic Club in Kalamazoo, Mich.

ALL-TIME SERIESThe Titans are 2-18 all-time against Toledo dating back to 1981. The Rockets snuck past the Titans, 4-3, in 2015.
Detroit is 0-15 all-time against Western Michigan dating back to 1979. The Broncos edged the Titans, 4-3, last spring.
SCOUTING THE TITANSDetroit is 2-5 on the season while facing some top-level opponents. In singles, the Titans are 16-26 overall this spring and are led by a pair of freshmen with three wins in
Nicholas Solarewicz and
Adam Zychowicz.
Patryk Koscielski has two wins from the top line, while
Nathan Ponton has a pair of wins from the second position.
In doubles, Detroit is 11-9 overall, with the duo of
Chance Conley and
Griffin Mertz leading the way at 6-1. The tandem of
Ismail Kadyrov and
Rafael Orantes adds three wins.
LAST TIME OUTDetroit split a pair of matches in its most recent action last weekend. The Titans fell on the road to the University of Michigan before bouncing back with a 6-1 home win over Wayne State. Detroit took two of the three doubles matches and dominated singles with a 5-1 edge.
SCOUTING THE ROCKETSMuch like Detroit, the Toledo Rockets have loaded the early portion of their schedule against tough opponents. The Rockets are 2-5 on the season with a schedule that features Purdue, Michigan State and Ohio State. Toledo defeated IUPUI, 5-2, in its most recent action.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOSWestern Michigan jumped out to a 4-0 start, including wins over UIC and Purdue, but needs to get back on track after losing the last three. The Broncos have lost to Valparaiso, Iowa and Drake heading into the match with UDM.
The Broncos have tried several players from the first position, but the middle of the order is rock solid with Ruben Greiner at 6-0 and Daniel Loebel at 5-2 in singles. WMU has been dominant in doubles, with a 13-6 edge over opponents. The pair of Greiner and Loebel lead the way with a 5-2 mark.
ON TAPFollowing this weekend's action, the Titans take a two-week break and return to action Saturday, Feb. 27 against Northwestern (Ohio) from Detroit's home court at the Franklin Athletic Club.
