Results Recap: Day 1WINDSOR, Ontario (2/13/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team wrapped up competition in the Windsor Team Challenge from the University of Windsor on Saturday.
With two weeks to go before the Horizon League Championships, the Titans crossed the border to continue to sharpen their performance.
The relay team of
Andrew Heitzhaus,
Colin Hooker,
Max Rogowski and
Charlie Felton led the Titans with a second place finish in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 8:26.23.
Brandon Wilks finished just outside of scoring position in the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.06.
Detroit placed three inside the top 15 of the 600-meter run with
Colton Wirgau leading the way in 11
th at 1:26.03.
Andrew Heitzhaus and
Nathaniel Nunez were right behind at 1:26.31 and 1:31.32, respectively.
Colin Hooker led Detroit in the 1,000-meter run with a ninth-place finish at 2:36.40.
Ryan Hofsess placed 12
th at 2:37.19, followed by
Max Rogowski in 13
th at 2:37.49.
In the 300-meter dash,
Zach Arnold paced the Titans with a 36.97 mark and 16
th-place finish. Wilks checked in next at 37.30, followed by Joseph Harmon at 38.19.
The foursome of Arnold, Wirgau, Harmon and Wilks led Detroit in the 4x400-meter relay with a fifth-place finish in 3:32.07.
Nicholas Scalzi placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 14.09 meters.
Jarod Hoekstra returned to action in the heptathlon and set a personal record in the pole vault at 2.95 meters. The mark secured him a personal record in the heptathlon, which he set at 3,518 points in a fifth-place effort.
ON TAPThe Titans return to action Friday, Feb. 19 for the GVSU Tune-Up from Grand Valley State University. Detroit will then turn its attention to the Horizon League Indoor Championships on Feb. 27 and 28.
