DETROIT (2/24/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team returns home to square off with the University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday at 6 p.m. from the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield, Mich.
The Titans will look to improve to 2-0 at home after defeating Wayne State in their only other contest on their own turf.

SCOUTING THE TITANSDetroit is 2-7 on the season while facing some top-level opponents. In singles, the Titans are 20-34 overall this spring and are led by a pair of freshmen with four wins in
Nicholas Solarewicz and
Adam Zychowicz.
Patryk Koscielski has two wins from the top line, while
Nathan Ponton has three wins from the second position.
In doubles, Detroit is 11-14 overall, with the duo of
Chance Conley and
Griffin Mertz leading the way at 6-3. The tandem of
Ismail Kadyrov and
Rafael Orantes has an even 3-3 record.
LAST TIME OUTDetroit dropped a pair of road matches two weeks ago at Toledo, 3-4, and Western Michigan, 6-1. The Titans' one-point loss was their fourth close call of the season, and second by a single decision.
SCOUTING THE RACERSUNOH is 5-1 on the year and own an impressive 27-9 mark in singles play. The Racers have four players with a 5-1 singles record. Daniel Ruda is 5-1 with all five wins on the top line.
The Racers have an equally impressive 14-4 mark in doubles, led by Ronnie Myburgh and Ruda at 5-1. The duo is 2-1 from the top line and a perfect 3-0 from the second position. Theo Baudin and Austen Hammet are 3-0, all from the third spot.
Much like Detroit, the Toledo Rockets have loaded the early portion of their schedule against tough opponents. The Rockets are 2-5 on the season with a schedule that features Purdue, Michigan State and Ohio State. Toledo defeated IUPUI, 5-2, in its most recent action.
