ANN ARBOR, Mich. (2/5/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team could not stop a red-hot University of Michigan squad as the Titans fell to the Wolverines, 7-0, on Friday afternoon from the Varsity Tennis Center.

Michigan jumped ahead to an early 1-0 lead after earning the doubles point with a pair of wins from the second and third positions.  The Wolverines swept the singles matches to pick up the clean sweep over the Titans and improve their win-streak to four.

The duo of junior Patryk Koscielski and freshman Nicholas Solarewicz gave Michigan's top doubles line all they could handle and were tied 3-3 when the battle was abandoned due to the Wolverines winning the two deciding matches.

With a 6-1 defeat from the second doubles spot, the pairing of junior Chance Conley and freshman Griffin Mertz suffered its first loss in six tries this spring.

Junior Ismail Kadyrov and Conley had strong showings from the third and sixth singles positions, respectively, but each came up just short in 6-4 decisions.

With the loss, the Titans fall to 1-5 on the season. Meanwhile, Michigan improves to 4-1 with the victory.

Detroit returns to action Sunday in its home opener against Wayne State. The match is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from the Franklin Athletic Club.
