DETROIT (1/20/17) - The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team returns to the court this weekend at DePaul. The match is set to begin at 6:15 p.m. EST from Lakeshore Sport & Fitness Club in the Windy City on Saturday night.
 
LAST WEEK
The Titans fell to Western Michigan in their 2017 opener last weekend. The Broncos, winners of last season's MAC Championship and preseason conference favorites again in 2017, earned the 6-1 win over Detroit Mercy by taking the doubles point and five of six singles matches. Detroit Mercy's lone victory came from newcomer Artem Vasheshnikov, who picked up where he left off in the fall and improved to 9-2 in singles play with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Maik Steiner from the second position.

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS
DePaul enters Friday's match against Green Bay with a 1-0 mark after defeating UIC 6-1 at home last weekend. Nathan de Veer, Alex Galoustian, Fran Tonejc and Tim Corwin each recorded a win in singles and doubles action vs. the Flames.
 
This will be the first time DePaul meets Detroit Mercy since 2012. Then, the Blue Demons swept the Titans 7-0.

Following the trip to Chicago, Detroit Mercy will return to the Motor City for its home opener against Duquesne. The Titans will host the Dukes on Saturday, Jan. 28 from Franklin Athletic Club. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. in Southfield, Mich.
