DETROIT (2/10/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team hits the road this weekend to take on Ball State and Notre Dame from the Hoosier State.
The Titans will square off with the Cardinals on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Muncie, Ind., before turning their attention to the Irish on Sunday at 5 p.m. in South Bend.
SCOUTING THE TITANS
Detroit Mercy is 2-3 through the early going of the season, with wins over Duquesne and Wayne State. The Titans were edged, 4-3, in their last outing against Northwestern Ohio.

Artem Vasheshnikov leads the Titans with an 11-3 singles record, including a 3-1 record from the second position. Junior
Nathan Ponton is 7-2 on the season and has won his last four singles matches. Senior

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Ball State enters the weekend at 1-4 overall and losers of the last two contests against Indiana and Michigan State. Lucas Andersen leads the squad with three singles wins, all of which have come from the top line. Conner Andersen and Patrick Downs each have three wins from fifth and sixth positions to round out the top wins leaders for Ball State.
SCOUTING THE IRISH
Notre Dame remains second in the receiving votes category of this week's Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Tennis Rankings with a 4-2 record. The Irish also boast two players in the rankings with seniors Josh Hagar and Eddy Covalschi jumping four spots to No. 6 in the national doubles rankings, having gone 13-4 on the season. Hagar dropped to No. 34 in the national singles rankings, with a 2-2 record in dual competition. The Irish are 23-0 all-time against the Titans and 2-0 under Head Coach Sachire. Notre Dame defeated Detroit Mercy 7-0 last season.
