SOUTH BEND, Ind. (2/12/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to Notre Dame on the road Sunday night.
The Irish took the doubles point and despite a strong effort from the Titans, secured all six singles matches to clinch the sweep.

Adam Zychowicz were up 5-3 from No. 3 doubles, but the match was not completed as the Irish had already taken the other two decisions.

Patryk Koscielski took the opening set of No. 2 singles with a 6-2 win, but Notre Dame's Matt Gamble answered with a 6-3 win in the second. Gamble would edge Koscielski after a hard-fought battle in the third set, 7-6 (7-3).
Artem Vasheshnikov and Zychowicz each bounced back from lop-sided decisions in the first set with valiant efforts in the second, but neither could complete the comeback against the Irish.
The Titans fall to 2-5 with the defeat, while the Irish improve to 6-3.
Detroit Mercy returns to the Motor City for a pair of home matches against Illinois State and Toledo on Feb. 18 and 22, respectively.
