DETROIT (3/1/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team heads to the Prairie State this weekend to take on Chicago State and Eastern Illinois. The Titans square off with CSU on Friday, Mar. 3 at 10 a.m. EST, before heading to EIU for a matchup on Saturday, Mar. 4 at 10 a.m.
Detroit Mercy enters the contest at 3-6 overall. Chicago State is 4-8 overall and Eastern Illinois is 2-8. The Panthers play Wisconsin on Friday before clashing with the Titans on Saturday.
SCOUTING THE TITANS
The Titans split a pair of matches last week with a 7-0 win over Illinois State and a 5-2 defeat to Toledo. Detroit Mercy will be looking for the first road win of the season. The Titans have faced a tough road schedule so far, with losses to Western Michigan, DePaul, Ball State and Notre Dame.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Chicago State enters the weekend at 4-8 overall and winners of their last three. The Cougars' three-game win streak has come over Prairie State, McKendree and William Jewell. Gonzalo Martinez leads the squad with 14 singles wins, followed by Felix Savard with nine and Rohan Wattley with eight.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Eastern Illinois enters the weekend at 2-8 overall. The Panthers won their most recent outing against St. Joseph's College (Ind.), 6-1, after falling in their previous four contests. EIU is 0-2 vs. the Horizon League this year, with losses to UIC and Valparaiso. Marko Janjusic leads the squad with five singles wins, followed by Freddie O'Brien with four. In doubles, O'Brien and Gage Kingsmith lead the team with a 3-5 mark from the top line.

Following this weekend's action in the Windy City, Detroit Mercy continues the road swing with three games in Georgia and Tennessee. The Titans will face Mercer (Mar. 7), Kennesaw State (Mar. 8) and Chattanooga (Mar. 9).
