KENNESAW, Ga. (3/8/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team suffered a tough 4-3 loss on the road to Kennesaw State on Wednesday afternoon from Betty Siegel Courts.
The Titans won a pair of hard fought doubles matches to kick things off with a point. After falling at No. 3 doubles, freshman
Marie Maitrot and sophomore
Iris Thioux evened the score with a 7-5 win from No. 2. Seniors
Anna Davydova and
Nynke Van Der Goot sealed the point with a 7-6 win from the top line.
Kennesaw State would flip the script in singles, however, clinching the first three points to take a 3-1 lead over Detroit Mercy.
The final three singles matches would go to three sets and needing all three, the Titans received wins at No. 3 and No. 4 courtesy of Thioux and Van Der Goot. Kennesaw State sealed the win with the edge in the top line over Davydova.
The Titans fall to 3-6 with the loss. Detroit Mercy will have a chance to bounce back with a match against Georgia Gwinett on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
