CHICAGO (4/22/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback in Horizon League road action at UIC on Saturday morning from the Windy City.
The Flames, who are tied for first in the conference standings, continued their hot play against the Titans. UIC opened the match by taking the doubles point and pulled away in singles for the victory.

Anna Davydova and
Nynke Van Der Goot played well, but fell in tough three-set matches. Davydova dropped the opening set of No. 1 singles, 6-4, before bouncing back with a strong 6-3 win in the second. Davydova was edged in the tie breaking third set, 11-9.
Van Der Goot won the opening set of No. 4 singles, 6-3, but dropped a 7-5 decision in the second as the match went to a third frame. Bianca Zuzu outlasted Van Der Goot with a 10-6 edge in the final set to pick up the win.
The loss drops Detroit Mercy's record to 9-11 overall and 5-3 in league action, while UIC improves to 16-5 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
The Titans will look to bounce back with a win in the regular season finale at Valparaiso on Sunday. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. EST.
