BATAVIA, Ohio (9/25/2017) -- Redshirt Freshman
Jonathan Brillati led the Titans with a career-best 3-over 74 in the final round as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team finished up the NKU Fall Collegiate Classic on Monday.
The event was held at the Par 71, 6,845-yard Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.
Sophomore
Scott Sparks topped the Titans for the second-straight tournament tying for 35th with a 227 (75-72-80), while senior
Eric Macrow and Brillati each shared 43rd with a 230, another career low for Brillati.
As a team, the Titans ended in 11th totaling a 923 (306-298-319), but were without the services of sophomore
Zack Tenerowicz, who had to withdraw from the third round due to illness.
The Titans will get back on the course next week, Oct. 2-3, when they compete in the CSU Invitational at the Barrington Country Club in Aurora, Ohio.

Here is a recap of the action at the NKU Fall Collegiate Classic:
- As a team, Detroit Mercy was sixth amongst the competition with 31 total birdies.
- Sparks played near flawless golf in the first two rounds with 27 pars and two birdies in his first 36 holes and added four birdies in his final round.
- He ended up leading the team with 32 birdies in the tournament.
- Brillati's previous career lows was a 76 and a 233, both at the Crusader Collegiate last season.
- Brillati knocked in eight birdies in the event, including four in his final round when he carded his career-best 74.
- Macrow led the team and was tied for 10th in the field with nine birdies, including four on the final 18.
- Freshman Bryce Douglass played as an individual and knocked in 31 pars, second-most on the team, while posting two birdies.
- Tenerowicz fired an even-par 71 – just one off his career low - in the second round and was tied for 14th with a 146 after 36 holes, just six strokes off the lead, before he had to withdraw in the final round.
