Senior Alek Mauro tallied a 1-under 70 in the final round in Tennessee.
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (3/19/2024) -- Alek Mauro did not let a double bogey to start the day ruin his round as the senior went on to post an under-par round and lead the Titans as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf completed the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

As a team, the Titans moved up to a share of eighth with a 918 (311-305-302) at the par 71, 6,891-yard Sevierville Golf Club's River Course in Sevierville, Tennessee.

Mauro tallied six birdies and nine pars, including playing the last holes 12 five-under - knocking in five birdies - to finish with a 1-under 70 and a three-day score of 225 (78-77-70) for a share of 23rd. He led the team with eight overall birdies and was tied for third in the field with a -2, 2.83 average on the course's par 3's.

Freshman Mason Sokolowski tied for 34th with a 229 (76-72-81), while junior Marko Banic tied for 62nd with a 237 (81-80-76). Banic's last round saw him post 11 pars and a birdie.

Freshman Gowtham Nalluri shared 72nd, registering a 239 (76-83-80), and sophomore Austin Brancaccio carded a 241 (89-76-76) for 78th but had three birdies and eight pars on the day.

Detroit Mercy will be back in action later in two weeks as the Titans travel to Indianapolis for the Butler Don Benbow Spring Invitational from Apr. 1-2.
