Biography

2016: Earned First Team All-MAAC at defense for the third-straight year, just the second Titan in school history to be selected All-MAAC First Team three times… A team captain, he played in all 12 games with 11 starts… Led the team with 17 caused turnovers and tied for sixth with 18 ground balls… Was fourth in the MAAC posting 1.42 caused turnovers per game… Forced a turnover in 10 of the Titans’ 12 games with six multi-caused turnover contests… Tied for second on the squad with three penalties… Started the year with a caused turnover and two ground balls at #11/12 Ohio State… Had two caused turnovers at Mercer… Tallied a caused turnover and two GB’s at #1/2 Notre Dame and against Bellarmine… Recorded two caused turnovers and two ground balls versus #19/17 Marquette at the Midwest Classic… Registered a season-high three caused turnovers with two loose balls at Manhattan… Picked up a career-high four GB’s with two forced turnovers against #20/20 Air Force… Posted two caused turnovers and two ground balls against Siena and at Monmouth… A member of the Detroit Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and earned the Academic Excellence Award, given to Titan student-athletes who have achieved academic excellence during their time at Detroit recording at least a 3.0 GPA for every semester that they have participated in college athletics… A member of the MAAC Academic Honor Roll and the MAAC All-Academic Team… Tabbed Preseason All-MAAC by the conference and by Inside Lacrosse… Ended his career appearing in 52 games and tallying 55 ground balls and 59 caused turnovers, fourth in school history. 

2015: Played in 12 games with 11 starts missing two games due to injury, but was still selected First Team All-MAAC… Was second on the team with 14 caused turnovers and picked up five ground balls… Whistled for four penalties totaling five minutes… Had two caused turnovers and a ground ball in the win over Ohio State… Tallied two caused turnovers and two ground balls at Michigan… Recorded a caused turnover against nationally-ranked Marquette and at Bellarmine at the Midwest Classic… Forced two turnovers and scooped up a ground ball versus Mercer… Registered a season-high three caused turnovers at Air Force… Finished with a caused turnover and ground ball against Monmouth and at Siena… A member of the Detroit Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, the MAAC All-Academic Honor Roll and the MAAC All-Academic Team… Tabbed preseason All-MAAC by the coaches and Inside Lacrosse.

2014: Saw action in 13 games, all starts, and was named First Team All-MAAC at defense… Led the team with a career-high 24 caused turnovers and ended the year 12th in Division I and leading the MAAC with 1.85 caused turnovers per game… Placed fifth on the squad with a career-best 22 ground balls… Tied for the team lead with eight infractions and was second with seven minutes of penalty time… Made his season debut in the second game of the year against Michigan posting four caused turnovers, two ground balls and scoring a goal on his first collegiate shot… Had four caused turnovers with a pair of GB’s at VMI… Tallied a career-best five caused turnovers with two ground balls against Bellarmine… Came away with a caused turnover and three ground balls in the road win at Canisius… Finished with two caused turnovers and three loose balls against Siena… A member of the University of Detroit Mercy Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, the MAAC Academic Honor Roll and the MAAC All-Academic Team. 

2013: A strong rookie campaign that saw him named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team… Played in all 15 games with 12 starts for a defense that was once again top three in the nation in caused turnovers and set a school record with a 9.90 goals against average… Recorded four caused turnovers and seven ground balls… Also called for the third most penalty minutes with seven on seven flags… Had a ground ball in his collegiate debut at Ohio State… Posted a caused turnover with two ground balls at Navy and at Siena… Came away with a caused turnover at Jacksonville and at Marquette... A member of the University of Detroit Mercy’s Athletic Director’s Honor Roll as well as the MAAC Honor Roll and All-Academic Team.

Prior To Detroit: Earned three varsity letters in lacrosse and football and was a team captain of both squads as a senior… Posted over 250 career groundballs along with 103 career caused turnovers, 20 assists and three goals…Selected All-County in lacrosse as a junior and senior as well as All-Academic…Won the Fran McCall Lacrosse Award in 2010, given to the sophomore varsity player with the highest athletic achievements after notching 117 groundballs and 32 caused turnovers… Tallied 36 caused turnovers, eight assists and 128 groundballs as a junior and 35 caused TO’s with six helpers and three markers as a senior…In football, he was All-County in 2011 and earned the Coach's Award as a junior as well as the Ryan Caulfield Award as a senior, awarded to the most outstanding football player…He was a finalist for the Piner Award as a senior (Best linebacker on Long Island) as well a nominee for the Thorpe Award (Best football player on Long Island)… He played club with the Long Island Storm and the Long Island Vipers, helping the storm to the Lava Lax Tournament title in 2010…Selected to the All Star Team at Blue Chip Lacrosse Camp in 2010 and 2011 season, and was tabbed to the All Star Team at Camp 205 in the summer before his senior season…A member of National Honor Society as a junior and senior.

Personal: Son of Paul and Caroline Bitetti…Has a younger sister…Chose Detroit because of its academics and pre-law program and it is an up and coming Division I lacrosse program with a dedicated coaching and support staff…Lists his biggest thrill in sports as playing in the Nassau County Lacrosse semifinals at Hofstra …A History major.
