Final Match Results
CHICAGO-- Host UIC claimed a 6-1 women's tennis win over Detroit Sunday afternoon in Horizon League action. The Titans posted 8-6 victories at No. 1 and No. 3 to secure the doubles point.
"The team played really well," Interim Head Coach
Pjotrs Necajevs said. "We played hard and at one point it looked like UIC was going to win all three doubles, but we pulled together and won the point. In singles, we went out there and played and competed hard against a very good team."
Carolina Salas Espinosa and
Amanda Cornwell were the winning doubles pair at No. 1 while
Julia Fernandes and
Erin Weldon took the No. 3 doubles match.
UIC stayed unbeaten in the conference, improving to 3-0 in Horizon League matches, 10-3 overall.
Detroit, which has postponed its regularly scheduled Monday home match against Oakland, will head to Pittsburgh next weekend to take on Temple and Duquesne on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
