Weekend Closes With Victory For Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio -- The women's tennis team completed its weekend of conference play as they fell in a close 4-3 match-up at Wright State Sunday afternoon.

Detroit (4-10, 1-3 Horizon League) took one of three doubles matches and three of four singles match-ups but the Raiders (7-8, 2-1 HL) arose victorious by the 4-3 margin.

Amanda Cornwell and Elena Strakhova teamed up at No. 1 doubles and won 8-3 for the duo's fourth in their last five outings.

Cornwell also won her singles match-up in the No. 4 position, 6-4, 6-3, as she has now posted five straight singles victories and owns a share of the team lead in singles wins in dual-match play with Chloe Karoub. Both have an 8-6 record.

Detroit's No. 1 singles player Raina Halabi and No. 2 singles player Karoub each won their singles match Sunday. Halabi won 7-5, 6-4 while Karoub came out on top 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.

The next matches for the Titans will come back in Michigan as both the men and the women will host Valparaiso and UIC in back-to-back doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday night. Keep checking DetroitTitans.com for finalized location and times for both of those events.
