Match Results

DETROIT -- After a 6-1 win over Valparaiso Friday, Chloe Karoub won her 10th singles match of the spring on senior day Saturday as the Detroit Titans hosted UIC at the Titan Tennis Complex. The Flames (11-3, 4-0 Horizon League), the defending Horizon League tennis champions, came into Detroit and won by a 6-1 margin.

Senior Amanda Cornwell was recognized prior to the match for her time with Detroit (5-11, 2-4 HL). Cornwell has spent three years with the red, white and blue and has garnered 36 singles wins and 39 doubles victories in that time.

The 11am start began with the Flames taking both doubles matches. Karoub and Raina Halabi fell 8-5 in the No. 2 spot and Cornwell and Elena Strakhova were upended 8-4 in the No. 1 position.

Karoub then captured her 10th dual-match win in singles play as she leads the team with a 10-6 record. She needed a third set tiebreaker to capture the victory at No. 2 singles against Teona Tsertsvadze. After taking the first set 6-4, Karoub fell 6-2 in the second and then pulled ahead in the tiebreaker, 10-7 to finish the match.

The Titans will conclude the regular season the weekend of April 20-21 as the team will head to Wisconsin to play at Green Bay and Milwaukee.
