Titans Earn First HL Win Over Valpo on Sunday; Serrano Ties School Record

VALPARAISO, Ind. (4/7/13) –
The Detroit men's tennis team earned its first Horizon League victory with a 4-3 win over Valparaiso on Sunday.
 
Mike Basha and Alex Latosinsky earned their sixth win at first doubles with an 8-5 victory. Pablo Nunez and Jay Joshi took second doubles by a tally of 9-7 for their fifth win of the dual-match season. Rafael Orantes and Cesar Escobar Serrano paired up for the first time and took third doubles, 9-8 (7-3).
 
Serrano tied the all-time singles wins record with a 6-2, 6-1 win at third singles. Serrano now has 55 singles wins in his career. Rafael Orantes earned his 10th win of the year with a 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth singles and Jay Joshi took his match at sixth singles in a 6-3, 6-2 decision.
 
The Titans will finish its home schedule with a match against Northern Illinois on Friday. It will be senior day when UDM honors the seniors and what they have done for the school.
