DETROIT (3/19/2015) -- It will be a showdown between two state rivals as the University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team meets Michigan State at home this Sunday.
The match, slated for 8:00 p.m., at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield, is part of a tennis doubleheader as the women's team meets Milwaukee at 6:00 p.m.
It is the second time this year that the Titans and Spartans will square off as MSU recorded a 7-0 victory in East Lansing on Jan. 31. Michigan State leads the all-time series at 30-4-1.
Detroit (4-8) came back from spring break and set up a tough match with No. 36 Notre Dame, falling 6-1, last Sunday. The reigning Horizon League Player of the Week, junior
Rafael Orantes had the lone singles win, while Orantes and sophomore
Chance Conley recorded a triumph at No. 3 doubles.

Patryk Koscielski continues to pace the Titans with nine singles wins, five at No. 1, and another seven in doubles.
Michigan State has lost four of its last five and is 8-8 on the season. Prior to the match-up with the Titans, MSU will host Penn State and play at Ohio State. Brett Forman leads the team with 14 singles wins, while No. 123 Gijs Linders is one of three Spartan netters with 11 victories. In doubles, the tandem of Harry Jadun and John Patrick Mullane is ranked No. 21 with a 10-3 record.
