DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (3/5/2015) -- Sophomore
Chance Conley pulled out a three-set thrilling win as the University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team visited Bethune Cookman on Thursday afternoon.
The Titans (3-7) battled the Wildcats (4-5) tough, but fell 6-1 in their only match of the day.
Conley was the lone victor as he tallied his fourth singles win of the year with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8, triumph at No. 3 over Gilbert Rotich.
Detroit had its chances in a few other matches as sophomore
Kacper Stelmaszak dropped a heartbreaker at No. 4, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. Sophomore
Patryk Koscielski was upended at second singles, 6-3, 6-4, and sophomore
Ismail Kadyrov lost, 6-4, 6-4, at the sixth position.
The doubles competition was tight too as junior
Tanguy Crosnier and Conley fell, 8-6, at No. 1, as did senior
Jay Joshi and Kadyrov at No. 2. Koscielski and Stelmaszak also nearly had a win as the duo was downed 8-5 at third doubles.
The Titans will have one final match left in their spring break competition as the red, white and blue face Mount St. Mary's tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., at the Oak Street Community Center.
