Men's Tennis Will Travel to Florida for Spring Break

DETROIT (3/4/13) --
The Detroit men's tennis team will travel to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. for a pair of matches over spring break this week from March 5-10. UDM will take on Lynn University (9-1) on Tuesday, March 5 in Boca Raton, Fla. before facing Bentley University (Mass.) (3-2) on Sunday, March 10 at the IMG Academy facilities.
 
Record Alert
Cesar Escobar Serrano currently sits at 51 career singles wins, four behind women's Head Coach Pjotrs Necajevs' (2008-10) total of 55 total singles victories. Seniors Alex Latosinsky and Chris Cheung are currently tied with Chris McMican (1989-91) for second with 42 doubles wins each, two victories shy of Anthony Grassadonia's (1988-91) 44.

The Titans
Detroit currently sits at 3-7 in dual match play, winning three of its previous four matches. Prior to the loss to Duquesne, UDM had won three straight matches against Grand Valley State (2/1), Wayne State (2/2) and Dayton (2/24).
 
Serrano has a perfect 4-0 record in singles play after he returned from an injury earlier in the year. He has paired with Cheung to earn a record of 3-2 in doubles matches. Freshman Rafael Orantes has won four of his past five matches, and six of his past 10, in singles play, with the only loss coming at fourth singles at Ball State.
 
The doubles pair of Mike Basha and Latosinsky lead the way for Detroit with four wins, winning three of their past five matches. Jay Joshi and Pablo Nunez are 3-1 at second doubles while Cheung and Serrano have recorded three wins at third doubles.

Lynn Fighting Knights
Lynn University is ranked third in the nation in D-II by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and are 9-1 on the season. The Fighting Knights won their first nine matches, keeping four opponents without a point, before losing their first match to #2 West Florida, 5-4, on March, 2.

LU has three singles players ranked nationally led by #4 Willi Wolfer while Vlad Cirla is #17 and Alessio Iannozzi is #28. Wolfer and Cirla team up for the fourth best doubles pair in the nation.

Bentley Falcons
Bentley opened the season with three straight wins but has since dropped its previous two matches to MIT (2/21) and Babson (2/23).
 
Rodrigo Ribeiro leads the way with a perfect 5-0 record at first singles and Jimmy Rindo is 3-2 at second singles. Ribeiero has teamed with Raghav Tanna and Kamil Pilch for a total doubles record of 3-1.
 
On the Horizon
After the Titans return to the Motor City, they will open the Horizon League schedule with a trip to Youngstown State (3/23) and then Cleveland State (3/24) the following day.
