FORT WAYNE, Ind. (3/14/13) – The Detroit men's tennis team won its third straight match as the Titans defeat IPFW, 5-2, on Sunday in Fort Wayne.
All three doubles matches were decided by an 8-5 score,
Alex Latosinsky and
Cesar Escobar Serrano took first doubles and
Chris Cheung and
Mike Basha took third doubles to give UDM the one-point advantage going into singles play.
Serrano earned his 10th victory on the year when he took his match at second singles, 6-3, 6-0, and Latosinsky took his match, 6-1, 6-2, at third singles for his seventh win of the year.
Pablo Nunez won his sixth match of the year with a 6-3, 7-3 (7-5) win at fourth singles and freshman
Rafael Orantes won his team-leading 12th match at fifth singles, 6-4, 6-3.
The Titans are now 8-12 on the year and will finish the regular season with a conference match against Green Bay on Sunday. The match will be held at Valparaiso and the start time has not been set yet.
