DETROIT (4/14/2015) -- Just one more match is left on the regular season schedule as the University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team will be in Indianapolis on Sunday, April 19, to battle the Jaguars of IUPUI.
The Titans and Jaguars are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., at the West Indy Racquet Club.
This is the sixth-straight year that Detroit and IUPUI will face each other with the red, white and blue winning on three occasions, including twice on the road in 2011 and 2013.
Detroit (5-14, 1-5 HL) already knows that it will be the sixth seed in the upcoming Horizon League Championship, which will take place next weekend, April 24-26, at Purdue University.
Two Titans now have double-digit victories on the season, led by sophomore
Patryk Koscielski's 11-11 record, with seven wins at No. 1 and two in the Horizon League. Freshman
Nathan Ponton is 10-6 on the season and 4-2 in the conference, while junior
Rafael Orantes and sophomore
Kacper Stelmaszak have nine wins apiece.
IUPUI is 9-16 on the year and 4-2 in the Summit League. The Jaguars have split their last four matches. They have also played four HL opponents on the season falling to Cleveland State (6-1), Valparaiso (5-2) and UIC (4-3), but did beat Wright State (6-1). Adam Reinhart leads the team with a 15-10 mark in singles, while David Beasley and Alex Toliver have 13 wins each.
