Biography

2013: Played in all 15 games in his final season, mostly on the wing… Finished sixth on the squad with 28 ground balls and was 21-of-54 on faceoffs… Also handed out a pair of assists and produced two caused turnovers… Posted three shots on the season… Started the year by going 2-of-6 with two ground balls at Ohio State… Picked up three ground balls and had a caused turnover against Quinnipiac… Tallied four GB’s in the win over VMI… Was 5-of-9 with a season-high seven ground balls and a career-best two assists as UDM defeated Manhattan… Won a season-high 11-of-21 and collected three ground balls at Marquette… Had a caused turnover in the upset win over Marist in the MAAC Semifinals and corralled a ground ball versus Siena in the MAAC Championship win and at #2 Notre Dame in the NCAA Championship first-round affair… Finished his career with a .456 faceoff winning percentage taking 334-of-732 with 170 ground balls and eight points on four goals and four assists… A four-year member of the Detroit Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and earned a place on the MAAC Honor Roll and All-Academic Team.

2012: Played in 14 of the Titans’ 15 games, missing the last regular season contest at VMI with an injury…Led the Titans in faceoff victories for the third-straight year…Finished the season 78-of-175 for a .446 percentage…Won 50% or more of his faceoffs on seven occasions…Fourth on the squad with 35 ground balls and also notched a goal, an assist and two caused turnovers…Won a season-high 14 faceoffs in 26 attempts with four ground balls and an assist at Canisius…Was 8-of-15 versus Michigan and at Quinnipiac, picking up a season-best seven ground balls against the Bobcats…Was 5-of-10 with three GB’s against Marist…Scored his lone goal of the year at Georgetown…Won 7-of-13 with three more loose balls in the match-up with Siena…Earned a selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team, the MAAC's Academic Honor Roll and the Titan Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

2011: The main face-off specialist for Detroit seeing action in all 16 games…Won a career-best 123 of his 279 battles for a .441 percentage…Finished third on the team with 53 ground balls…Also scored a career-best two goals and had his first collegiate assist for three points…Won 50% of his face-offs in seven games, including tying his career high for face-off victories with a 16-of-29 effort against Robert Morris…He also found the back of the net against the Colonials…Was 7-of-11 with a goal in the home win over Mercer…Secured 12 of 18 face-offs to go with six ground balls at Jacksonville…Was 12-of-24 – with some important wins late in the fourth quarter – in the Titans’ 13-11 victory at Siena…Had a great game winning 13-of-21 and picking up a career-high 10 ground balls in the overtime win over Canisius…Was 11-of-20 with six GB’s and a caused turnover in the MAAC tournament semifinals victory… A member of the MAAC All-Academic Team and the MAAC 2010-11 Honor Roll as well as the Detroit Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

2010: Played in all 15 games for the Titans…Was Detroit’s main face-off specialist posting a .500 record winning 124 face-offs on the year…Led the team with 54 ground balls…Scored his first collegiate goal at Manhattan as he won the face off, scooped up the ground ball and then went one-on-one with the goalie, beating the keeper…Won his first face off at Ohio State going 9-of-14 against the Buckeyes…Tallied a season-high 16 face-off wins, in 24 attempts, at Robert Morris…Was 11-of-19 against both Manhattan and Marist, collecting five GB’s in the process…Picked up a season-best seven ground balls three times, at RMU, verse Presbyterian and at Saint Joseph’s…Also caused a career-best four turnovers against the Blue Hose…Was 13-of-19 in a MAAC contest against the Hawks and ended the year pulling out eight victories in 16 tries against Wagner…A member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Prior to Detroit: A four-year starter who began his high school career as the only underclassman on the varsity squad…A three-time All-State performer as well as a two-time team MVP…Amassed 126 goals and 121 assists in his prep career…Won over 300 career face-offs, including a school record 90 percent as a senior…Won the U.S. Senate Scholarship as a senior and took part in the 47th Annual U.S. Senate Youth Program, where he had the opportunity to meet President Barack Obama.

Personal: Son of Jill and Jim Davenport…Has one older brother…Lists his biggest thrill in sports as being tabbed All-State and a team captain…An education major.
