Men's Tennis Defeats Wayne State; Saturday Tennis Cancelled

Please note Saturday's tennis match scheduled against Case Western at Noon has been cancelled.

DETROIT (10/12/2012)
-- The University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team hosted cross-town rival Wayne State in an exhibition match at the Titan Tennis Courts at the James K. Campbell Complex on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy Friday afternoon winning three of five singles matches and two out of three in doubles. Also, Saturday's scheduled match against Case Western has been cancelled due to an unfavorable weather forecast.

The day's event was a chance for the Titans to use the home courts before the weather turns colder and also an opportunity for the two local squads to go head-to-head in preparation for the dual-match season.

Alex Latosinsky, Pablo Nunez, and Mike Basha all won their singles matches with Latosinsky winning 6-1, 6-4, Nunez taking a three set 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 match, and Basha also winning in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1.

In doubles, Nunez and Jay Joshi paired together for an 8-2 win and Cesar Escobar Serrano and Chris Cheung also combined for a tiebreaking, 8-7 (5) win.
