Titans Down Bentley to Finish Week in Florida

BRADENTON, Fla. (3/10/13) –
The Detroit men's tennis team bounced back after a loss earlier in the week and defeated Bentley, 7-0, Sunday evening at the IMG Tennis Complex in Bradenton, Fla.­­
 
Detroit (4-8) only dropped one set in its victory over the Falcons (3-3).  UDM took all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and dominated in singles play to earn the win to close out the spring break trip.
 
Mike Basha and Alex Latosinsky teamed up to take first doubles, 9-7. Basha beat his opponent at first singles, 6-2, 6-1, and Latosinsky downed his opponent, 6-1, 6-1, at the second spot. Cesar Escobar Serrano and Chris Cheung earned their fourth win of the year, and first at second doubles, by a tally of 8-2. At third singles, Cheung blanked his opponent in the first set, 6-0, and took the second set, 6-1, to earn his fifth win of year, and first at third singles. Serrano earned his fifth win of the season, and third at third singles, in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, to move yet another win closer to the all-time singles wins record at Detroit.
 
Freshman Rafael Orantes and sophomore Jay Joshi took the final doubles match, 8-1, to conclude doubles play. Orantes earned his team-leading seventh win of the season with a 6-0, 6-2 win at fifth singles. Larry Brown won his first match of the season in a 2-6, 6-2, 10-9, match at sixth singles. 
 
UDM will take a week off before it opens Horizon League play at Youngstown State Saturday, March 23.
