SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (4/12/13) – The Detroit men's tennis team defeated Northern Illinois, 4-2, on senior night at the Franklin Athletic club Friday night.
 
All six seniors earned wins on the night for Detroit (6-12), three winning in singles play and the other three in doubles action.
 
Seniors Pablo Nunez and Larry Brown took second doubles, 8-5, and Mike Basha and Cesar Escobar Serrano teamed-up for the first time in their careers to clinch the doubles point at third doubles, 8-6.
 
NIU (13-8) took the first two singles matches, but Nunez took his match at fourth singles in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, and Chris Cheung earned a win at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-1. Alex Latosinsky clinched the fourth point for the Titans at third single, 6-2, 6-2.
 
Detroit will travel to Indiana for a match against IPFW on Saturday and one more against IUPUI on Sunday.
