Titans Take No. 3 Doubles On Friday At Valparaiso

VALPARAISO, Ind. (4/10/2015) --
Junior Rafael Orantes and sophomore Chance Conley teamed together for a victory in doubles as the University of Detroit Mercy men's tennis team fell at Valparaiso on Friday night.
 
Orantes and Conley gave Detroit (5-13, 1-4 HL) its only win on the day as the tandem defeated Valparaiso's (18-5, 2-1 HL) Lucas Waak and Garrett Gardner, 6-3.
 
The Titans played the other doubles matches tough as senior Jay Joshi and sophomore Ismail Kadyrov dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 1, while sophomore Patryk Koscielski and freshman Nathan Ponton were upended, 6-4, at No. 2.
 
Koscielski nearly came away with a big win at top singles as he was edged 1-6 (1), 6-3, 7-6, to Dave Bacalla, Second-Team All-Horizon League selection last season.
 
At No. 6, Kadyrov pushed his counterpart to the limit in a 7-5, 2-6, 10-3, setback, while Orantes lost a tough, 6-4, 7-5, match at No. 3.
 
The Titans will get right back on the courts tomorrow as the red, white and blue visit UIC with match time set for 3:00 p.m. (EST).
