DETROIT (5/13/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics is unveiling its All-Decade Teams of the 2010s, compiling the best student-athletes across the past 10 seasons (2010-19) into a First and Second Team in each intercollegiate sport. Next up is a program that saw a lot of success during its first decade-plus of Division I athletics in Titan women's lacrosse.

The Titans racked up 76 wins during the decade, winning better than eight games in a season five times. The Titans had a school-record 12 wins in 2016 and also won 10 games in both 2015 and 2018. Detroit Mercy earned four-straight trips to the ASUN championship game (2013-16) and a share of two consecutive Southern Conference regular-season titles (2018-19). The red, white and blue was the first team to defeat ASUN power Jacksonville in league history, with the Titans topping the Dolphins 9-8 in the ASUN semifinals in 2016.

The Titans had many All-League honorees throughout the decade, 41 in all across the 10 years of the decade (2010-19). Twenty-five (25) of those 41 All-Conference honorees were First Team laurels. Five Titans were three-time All-Conference during the decade -- Kylie Birney, Emily Boissonneault, Lexie Kinmond, Lexie McCormick and Kaitlyn Wandelt.

The Titan women's lacrosse program had its Hall of Fame inductee in 2020 in Emily Boissonneault, who leads the program in goals (242) and caused turnovers (157) through the first 12 years of the team's history. Kinmond is the all-time leader in assists (127) and points (281), Wandelt leads in draw controls (290), McCormick leads in saves (665) and Allison McDonough in ground balls (210) after 12 seasons. Anna Eidem led all of the NCAA in goals per game (4.24) during the 2012 season, scoring 72 goals in 17 games, while Boissonneault still ranks in the top-10 all-time in Division I history in caused turnovers (157, T-15th) and caused turnovers per game (2.28, 12th).

The squad had many Player of the Year recipients during the decade, across three conferences. Zaynib Hamze was the ASUN Player of the Year and McCormick was the ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, both in 2013. The Titans swept the SoCon awards in the first season in 2018 -- Wandelt receiving Offensive Player of the Year honors, McDonough earning Defensive Player of the Year in the league and Meredith Moore capturing the Freshman of the Year award. Wandelt was also the ASUN Freshman of the Year, in 2016.

The program had several award winners within the department and nationally with Kylie Birney receiving the 2016 IWLCA Division I Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor. Birney was also a two-time ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year in women's lacrosse. Birney (2016), Morgan Lear (2015) and Boissonneault (2012) all earned the President's Award at the University during the decade. Birney, Britany Busch, Anna Eidem, Morgan Girardi, Corina Mahorn and Tessa Keuler were all three-time All-Academic Team honorees. The Titans also led all of Division I in GPA during the 2012-13 school year with a 3.60 GPA.

The Titans had two Coach of the Year honors during the decade with Laura Maness earning Coach of the Year laurels in 2012 in the National Lacrosse Conference (NLC) and Laurie Merian voted as SoCon Coach of the Year in 2018.

All-League honors, award winners, standout and record-breaking performances, academic achievements and accolades as well as submissions from fans were all considered for each of the Detroit Mercy All-Decade Teams of the 2010s.
