Track & Field Set For Full Week Highlighted By 116th Annual Drake Relays

DETROIT (4/22/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's track and field teams will have one final weekend of action before the Horizon League championships, as most of the Titans will visit Iowa, while others will compete at a local meet.

UDM will take part in the 116th Annual Drake Relays from Apr. 23-25 in Des Moines, Iowa. Some will make the trip to Iowa but participate in the Kip Janvrin Open at Simpson College from Apr. 24-25, and a small group will be at the Don Kleinow Memorial Invitational at Siena Heights on Friday.

The last time the Titans visited Drake was in 2019.

Last week at Oakland, the men recorded 12 top-three finishes and one win, along with a few performances that ranked in the top 10 in school history. The women had 11 top-three efforts, three wins, and a school-record throw.

The men saw freshman Joey DeCasas claim the long jump for the fifth time this year at 7.08 meters. Senior Joshua Otten posted the ninth-best time in school history in the 5,000m with a run of 14:49.82 for second, while freshman Colin Murray broke a rookie record and tallied the fifth-best 1,500m time in school history by placing second with a 3:53.78.

On the women's side, sophomore Lyla Mullins extended her school record in the shot put with the winning toss of 15.36m, en route to Horizon League Field Athlete of the Week. Graduate senior Abby Winkle won the 400m in 58.21, and rookie Nadia Hill once again was first in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m.
