Detroit Mercy Titans Hall of Fame
The Titan gridiron programs had some great team, but none were better than the 1928 Titans. In fact, not many were better in the nation that season as U-D was named a co-national champion after going 9-0. They shutout seven of their nine opponents and outscored their counterparts by a combined total of 267 to 27 under fourth year under head coach and College Football Hall of Fame inductee, Gus Dorais. Some of the wins included 39-0 over DePaul, 46-0 over Louisville, 39-0 versus Michigan State and on December 1, 1928, the Titans defeated Georgetown, 33–13, before a record crowd of 30,000 at Dinan Field.
