Detroit Mercy Titans Hall of Fame
Stonebreaker was a two-time All-Catholic and All-American performer at right end. He led the Titans in receiving during the 1960 season when he caught 22 passes for 416 yards and two touchdowns. He followed up that year with 439 yards on 26 receptions and a pair of TD’s as a senior. Those statistics placed him 15th among major college receivers in 1961 and he was the Team Captain and Defensive MVP that season. The most memorable games that year came against Navy, when he caught six passes for 81 yards, and vs. Western Michigan, when he hauled in five passes for 76 yards. He was drafted by Minnesota and played professionally for two seasons with the Vikings before being traded to the Baltimore Colts in 1964 and concluding his career with the New Orleans Saints.
